Y’all this book is everything I’ve been asking for without realizing it! Bea gave me the confidence to rock my bikini the last few weekends! I loved this book so much!!
ONE TO WATCH is a body positive Bachelorette. The style the book is written is fantastic with snippets from the interviews, emails, texts, news articles.. it really gives you the whole picture of this show they are doing with a plus size Bachelorette!
The characters were perfection. There were the nasty guys who wouldn’t stop with the fat jokes, the lions in sheep’s clothing, the guys with secrets, and the guys that were in love with her. They were so realistic!
Bea is our bachelorette and she is a fashion blogger who happens to be plus size. She has so much confidence but she’s not sure she’s here for the right reasons and dealing with the hate from some of the guys and trying to hold the weight of the world’s pressure and expectations on what they think a fat girl should do is exhausting. Oh plus she is catching feelings for some of the guys?!! What!! She struggles with the pressure and stress for sure. It’s so great to see her fall in love and come to some new realizations about herself in the most dramatic season yet. This ending you wouldn’t predict!
I loved it. Every bit of this book was amazing. I actually loved the hate comments added because for non plus size people it opens their eyes to the hate we get every day even from family members. Fatphobia is real and disgusting. People think they can say anything to you because you are fat. It’s effed up. I also really thought this book was great because it was a romance but it didn’t fetishize curvy women. So often a curvy or plus size romance will be labeled as such, and then it’s only used as a characteristic in sex. The man is loving her curves and her fat ass and huge tits and then that’s it. It’s gross and bothersome. We are fat, we are curvy, but we are still human and so much more than what a man likes during sex. I loved that this book didn’t talk about this. It tackled the fatphobia and the fears we have every day because of the judgement from others. It was just a great romance and bachelor fanfic!
Bea is such an inspiration and such a real character and I wish this would happen IRL. Your body has nothing to do with your worth or value and any size deserves to fall in love!
CW: severe fatphobia, cyber bullying, a r*ape comment made at a fat woman
My six word review:
Curvy bachelorette breaks boundaries and hearts
